Photos: Olympic-caliber swimmers back in competition

Ryan Lochte

Olympic-level swimmers were back in the pool for the first time since London with the FINA short-course swimming championships this past weekend in Istanbul, Turkey. We have a photo gallery below.

Among the big winners was American Ryan Lochte, who won six golds and one silver. And in a totally cool gesture, Lochte gave away one of his gold medals to a young Turkish boy. "One of the main reasons for racing is because of my fans, so I always want to give something back," Lochte said. "If I took the medal, it would end up in a sock drawer. If I give it to a fan, they're going to treasure it."
