WNBA players Brittney Griner and Glory Johnson recently got engaged to marry, and now it's time to pick out the dress. While Griner will certainly be wearing a suit, Johnson wants to don a beautiful white gown for the occasion. The couple decided to join the TLC show Say Yes to the Dress on their hunt for the perfect dress.
Show host Lori Allen had a particularly interesting observation:
"Dressing Glory was not as I had envisioned. I expected this fabulous athlete -who would not really want to look like a traditional bride. I'm thinking maybe a pants suit? Boy was I wrong. Ultimately Glory was very traditional and was only interested in pleasing Brittany – like most other brides. This is why I love bridal – it keeps you on your toes! In the end, Glory looked glorious (no pun intended)."
I'm not sure why Allen assumed Johnson would want to wear pants for her wedding. Most women do wear dresses. Maybe it's because she's a basketball-playing lesbian that she figured she'd want to be masculine-looking in her wedding. That's certainly Brittney's style, and she always wears it well. But why she'd assume Johnson would want the same thing – or why she'd make any assumptions going into the show – is hard to understand.
