Coe College baseball player Ben Larison was profiled on Outsports a couple years ago as a gay athlete at his Iowa-based college. Now in his senior season and graduating soon, he talks about the fun he and his team have with being gay and having a boyfriend who's also an athlete.
One of the neat things about his experience is how comfortable his team has been with him. They joke with him about being gay, and he has no trouble joking right back about the same thing, even asking them on joke dates that they all take in good fun. Very cool.
We met up with Larison at the Major League Baseball Diversity Business Summit in Phoenix, where he and many other LGBT people met with MLB team front offices in hopes of landing a job on the business side of the sport.
