Adam Rippon has skated in his last competition. The openly gay figure skater who won over the hearts of America at the Winter Olympics earlier this year has announced his retirement from competition, according to CBS and other outlets.

Since bringing America to tears with his free-skate program for the team competition at the Olympics in February, Rippon has explored many different avenues to build his brand and make some money, including working the red carpet at awards shows and judging ‘Dancing With The Stars: Juniors.’ Rippon won the adult version of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ in the spring. He’s even tried out acting on ‘Will & Grace.’

Unclear is whether Rippon will skate professionally on tour. Popular figure skaters can make a lot of money touring with skating shows and exhibitions, particularly in places like Japan and Russia where figure skating is wildly popular.

Either way, we wish Rippon much success, and we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.
