Way back in January 2014, Outsports co-founders Cyd Zeigler and Jim Buzinski launched a weekly podcast series. And although the guys took a break from podcasting in August 2017, the Outsports brand has never stopped growing and expanding.
Now, with help from our partners at SB Nation and Vox Media, the world leader in LGBTQ sports coverage has launched a new series of podcasts covering an even wider spectrum of interest. And now listeners can download a fresh new podcast six days a week!
Every Monday, Cyd Zeigler hosts Five Rings to Rule Them All.
Cyd’s podcast combines his expertise in covering the Olympics with his incredible list of contacts including famous Olympians, as well as with his adoration of the J.R.R. Tolkien series of books based in Middle Earth.
In his inaugural episode, Cyd chatted with Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon.
You’ll find episode one on Apple’s Podcast page as well as on Spotify, Spreaker, Castbox and Player FM. And at those podcast providers, you’ll also find the archive for all of Cyd and Jim’s podcasts dating back to January 2014 through August 2017.
Plus, you’ll find a link to the podcast of the day at the bottom of almost every Outsports.com story, including this one!
Every Tuesday, Randy Boose presents Level Playing Field, in which he sits down with an athlete or sports personality who also happens to be a part of the LGBTQ community. They’ll discuss growing up around sports, coming out and their life in sports. They’ll also find time to talk about what matters to them right now. Each guest represents someone in the LGBTQ community from around the world. Randy has been hosting the Level Playing Field podcast since March 2019 and is excited to be joining us on the new Outsports platform.

Wednesdays are Daniel Days for Outsports Podcast listeners.
Every other week, download a fresh episode of Daniel Villarreal’s Outsports Extra Points podcast.
Daniel describes Outsports Extra Points as a dive into books, films, TV shows, historical moments and socio-cultural oddities associated with queer athletics, with occasional guests.
You’ll find the link to Apple podcasts here. You can also find Outsports podcasts on Spotify, Spreaker, Castbox and Player FM.
Then, every other Wednesday, check out Same Team from Outsports contributor Daniel Trainor.
As he describes it, it’s a podcast featuring influential LGBTQ athletes, journalists and personalities discussing the complexities of their respective journeys and the importance of their missions.
The show covers a wide range of LGBTQ topics and areas of interest, with a keen eye on the future and the work that is left to be done. Listen to Daniel Trainor’s earlier podcasts by clicking here. You can also find his and all Outsports podcasts on Spotify, Spreaker, Castbox and Player FM.
On Thursdays, join Outsports contributor Brian Bell for LGBT in the Ring. You can also find Outsports podcasts on Spotify, Spreaker, Castbox and Player FM.
Brian says his focus is on interviews with LGBTQ figures within and around the wrestling industry, with analysis of major events and periodic discussion with his trans non-binary genderfluid partner.
Brian confesses he is slowly indoctrinating them in his 20+ year obsession of wrestling.
That’s Thursdays, on the Apple Podcasts page, as well as on Spotify, Spreaker, Castbox and Player FM.
On weekends, Outsports contributor Karleigh Webb and I, managing editor Dawn Ennis, open hailing frequencies for our new podcast, built upon our success with our now defunct “Before The War Podcast.”
We mix sports, issues surrounding transgender athletes and our love of Star Trek and all things Sci-Fi as we beam up every weekend to The Trans Sporter Room. We’ve already spoken with roller derby athlete Jess Firrinn, NCAA champion CeCé Telfer, Powerlifter JayCee Cooper and former college volleyball athlete Chloe Psyche Anderson.
We’re now booking guests, so if you’re interested in talking with us, or any of the podcast hosts, drop us a line in the comments below, email us at [email protected] or send us a message via The Trans Sporter Room Facebook page by clicking here.
We’ll have a new episode every weekend on our Apple iPod page. You can also find Outsports podcasts on Spotify, Spreaker, Castbox and Player FM.
Also in the lineup is Outsports contributor and comedian Ken Schutz. It may be the baseball post-season, but every Friday, Ken is back on the mound, checking the runners, nodding to the catcher, setting up and delivering fastballs in 3 Strikes, You’re Out.
He’s talking baseball, whether you call this post-season or pre-season, and anything else that comes up in the world of LGBTQ sports, with fascinating and funny guests. Click here to listen on Apple podcasts. You can also find Outsports podcasts on Spotify, Spreaker, Castbox and Player FM.
And we’re sure there will be comedy aplenty to keep you listening from week to week.
