At Outsports, we believe every day should be Lesbian Visibility Day.

Being proud, being strong, being vibrant should not be limited to just one calendar day. So, all this week, starting today through Sunday, May 2, we will be celebrating the many women in sports around the world who love women, who have come out and live their truth, who are leading the way for the entire LGBTQ community. Welcome to Lesbian Visibility Week!

And every kind of lesbian deserves recognition. When we say women in sports who love women, that means all women.

Today and all this week, women who love women are celebrated all around the world.

Be aware: which flag you fly sends a message; some stand for inclusion, while others represent exclusion.

Here is a very incomplete list of just some of the lesbians and gay women whose stories have appeared in Outsports over our 21 years:

Billy Jean King and Ilana Kloss

Katie Sowers

Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird
