Out UFC fighter Jessica Andrade now sits atop the list of women with the most UFC wins after her split decision victory over Marina Rodriguez Saturday night at UFC 300.

Andrade secured the win by weathering stiff strikes and multiple choke attempts from Rodriguez while delivering blistering shots of her to close out the last two rounds of the fight. Judges scored it 28-29, 29-28 and 29-28 in favor of Andrade, giving the Brazilian her second victory in a row and her 17th win inside the octagon.

The win broke a tie for most UFC wins by a female fighter in the UFC with fellow out fighter Amanda Nunes.

It is the latest accolade in Andrade’s decade-plus UFC career. She defeated Rose Namajunas with one of the gnarliest knockouts seen in the UFC to win the UFC Strawweight championship in 2019. She holds the record for most fights by a woman in UFC history and remains the only woman to win fights in three different weight classes.

She was also one half of the first fight in UFC history between two out LGBTQ fighters in 2013 when she matched up against Liz Carmouche.

Andrade expressed joy at securing the record after the fight while signaling that she should be in line for the next shot at UFC Strawweight champion Zhang Weili, the same woman who ended her reign in 2019.

“I think we both [thought] the winner of this fight was the one that should be next for the fight for the title,” Andrade said through an interpreter at the post-fight press conference. “ I hope to have a shot at the title.”

“I think this ranks up there, out of 100, it ranks 1,000. I mean, it’s all the way up there [in] moments of my life,” Andrade said about securing the win at a card with the significance of UFC 300.

It’s unclear if Andrade’s wish to battle Weili for the title she once held is in the cards, but Andrade’s performance Saturday night and standing alone at the top of the women’s UFC leaderboard for all-time wins will surely be beneficial in securing  such an opportunity.
