UFC is offering every fighter the opportunity to display their name in rainbow colors during Pride month, Outsports has confirmed.
“For the entire month of June, UFC will allow athletes competing during all events with the option of customizing their fight kits in honor of Pride month,” someone close to UFC has told Outsports.
The speculation of such an option was first reported by Ariel Helwani, and we have learned the report is true.
Every fighter during the month of June will be able to display their support of Pride on their shorts, shirt and walkout zip-up jersey.
The move this year was inspired by a request in 2020 from Tecia Torres and Raquel Pennington. UFC agreed to their request last year, and the two had their Pride kits:
This year’s option for all fighters is similar, though the 2021 kits are produced by Venom and in 2020 they were produced by Reebok.
In addition, fans will have the option to order a Pride replica of the fight kit for themselves.
UFC previously sponsored Outsports Pride in 2018, even sending three fighters to march along other LGBTQ athletes in the World Pride parade. While there have been problematic moments for the premier MMA organization, UFC has made several efforts to support the LGBTQ community in the last few years.
