Isaac Humphries had a bunch of pro basketball teams who wanted to sign him. In the end, the big man in the middle decided to continue what he started with the Adelaide 36ers.

After signing a contract with his former team last year, Humphries decided to make a longer-term commitment to what they’ve been building in recent months under new head coach Scott Ninnis.

“I decided to come back to Adelaide to build on what we have been doing in the back half of the season,” Humphries said, according to the North West Star.”I had several clubs show interest, which I’m very appreciative of, but ultimately I’m very happy here in Adelaide.

The center played college basketball for the University of Kentucky and had a brief NBA stint with the Atlanta Hawks.

Last year in Australia’s NBL he was top-20 per game in points, rebounds and blocks, making him a valuable asset to the team.

Humphries hasn’t been shy about being gay since coming out in 2022. Recently, Humphries was part of Sydney Mardi Gras, which is essentially a Pride celebration.

Humphries is one of six gay men we know played professional basketball while being publicly out.

It’s great to know there will be an out gay athlete in men’s pro basketball somewhere in the world for at least another three years.
