Four Olympic gold medals. That’s just a small sliver of the hardware that the home of Meghan Duggan and Gillian Apps will hold. The two women married over the weekend in a ceremony that has been wonderfully celebrated across social media.

Duggan and Apps didn’t win these medals playing on the same Olympic team. In fact, they were rivals on the ice for their entire competitive careers. Apps won three Olympic golds playing for Team Canada in 2006, 2010 and 2014. Duggan finally broke through and won gold playing for Team USA in 2018. Duggan had finished second to her wife in 2010 and 2014.

Duggan currently plays for the Boston Pride in the National Women’s Hockey League. Apps formerly played for the Brampton Thunder of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League.

Duggan let her joy show through on Twitter:

We’ve seen this North American hockey marriage before, with American Julie Chu and Canadian Caroline Oullette. Oullette has four Olympic golds, while Chu has three Olympic silvers and a bronze. Earlier this year NWHL players Anya Battaglino and Madison Packer also got engaged.

All four of these women have multiple World Championships.
